Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has praised defenders Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk despite the team conceding three goals in their thrilling 4-3 victory over Swansea City. The match marked only the second time this season Leeds have allowed three goals in a Championship game, with the other instance being a 3-3 draw against Portsmouth at Elland Road. Remarkably, Leeds avoided defeat on both occasions.
Rodon and Struijk have been pivotal for Leeds this season, starting every match and contributing to an impressive nine clean sheets. The team has conceded just 12 goals in the Championship, half of which came against Swansea and Portsmouth.
Speaking to LUTV after the game, Farke acknowledged the defensive lapses but lauded the duo’s overall quality. “Our defending was not spot on like in all the other games so far,” he admitted. “For me, they are the best two centre-backs in the league at the moment. So, 3-3? We should have done better.”
The manager’s comments underline the high standards he holds for his players, particularly Rodon, who faced his former club, and Struijk, whose consistency has been key to Leeds’ defensive solidity this season.
