West Ham United’s attempt to sign Brazilian striker Yuri Alberto has been rebuffed, with Corinthians rejecting a reported £25 million bid for the 23-year-old forward. According to Brazilian outlet Soutimao, the Serie A club has ruled out a January transfer for their star player, despite the growing interest from European clubs.
Alberto, who finished the 2024 Brazilian Serie A season as the league’s top scorer with 15 goals in 29 appearances, is not expected to leave the club until at least the summer. Corinthians have made it clear that they are not considering offers for the forward in the upcoming transfer window.
West Ham, who have been exploring the Brazilian market for several years, are said to have identified Alberto as a potential addition to their attacking lineup. However, with his departure now more likely in the summer, the Hammers will need to look elsewhere in the short term.
The club’s recent interest in Brazilian talent also includes the signing of Palmeiras winger Luis Guilherme during the summer transfer window. West Ham were also reportedly close to securing Flamengo centre-back Fabricio Bruno, though the deal fell through at the last minute.
Despite the setback with Alberto, West Ham remain active in the transfer market as they continue to build their squad under manager David Moyes.
