Newcastle United are set to complete the signing of Georgian forward Vakhtang Salia in August 2025, when the talented 17-year-old turns 18. The Magpies will acquire Salia from Dinamo Tbilisi, but immediate plans involve loaning him out to further his development ahead of a potential future in the Premier League.
The young attacker is viewed as a promising talent for the club, with the long-term hope that he will eventually strengthen Eddie Howe’s starting lineup. However, Newcastle’s current intention is to give him time to mature and gain experience elsewhere before making the leap to top-flight football.
Newcastle have reportedly outmaneuvered several of Europe’s top clubs to secure Salia’s signature, with a recent update from the i Paper shedding light on the behind-the-scenes efforts. According to the report, it was Paul Mitchell, the club’s sporting director, who played a pivotal role in fast-tracking the deal.
Mitchell personally took charge of the negotiations to ensure the move was completed swiftly, securing a promising future for both the player and the club.
