Graeme Bailey has shared insights on Everton’s managerial future, including an update on Sean Dyche’s contract, which is set to expire next summer. With the club’s ownership under the Friedkin Group, Bailey suggests they may be planning a change at the helm as they aim to shape Everton in their vision.
Speaking to Everton.News, Bailey detailed what he believes is the “ideal” scenario for Everton’s leadership. “With at least two of the relegated teams struggling, I think relegation isn’t really a concern,” he said. “They’ll give Dyche until January.” He added, “We know Dyche clearly isn’t a long-term one.”
Bailey shared that Everton’s owners hope Dyche will stay through the current season to provide stability, especially with the transition to the new stadium on the horizon. “From what I’m hearing, if they can get through with Dyche until they’re ready to appoint that new name, which should ideally be next summer ahead of the new stadium, then that’s what they’ll do,” Bailey explained. “That’s the ideal scenario for them and that was always the case.”
The journalist also noted that while Everton’s start to the season was rocky, the club wasn’t in a rush to part ways with Dyche. “They were never desperate to get rid of him,” Bailey said. “They’ve got a lot of balls in the air at the moment. They’re happy for Dyche to continue there and guide them to safety.”
