Simon Jordan Questions the Friedkin Group’s Everton Takeover

0

Everton fans have high hopes for the club’s future as a potential takeover by The Friedkin Group edges closer to completion. With a challenging season under manager Sean Dyche—marked by a recent defeat to Southampton—supporters are looking forward to a fresh start. Off the field, there’s additional excitement as the club’s new stadium nears completion, set to open next season.

The Friedkin Group, led by American businessman Dan Friedkin, is reportedly closing in on a deal to acquire Everton, potentially ending Farhad Moshiri’s controversial tenure at Goodison Park. However, some fans and analysts have voiced concerns over The Friedkin Group’s focus and whether Everton will receive the full attention needed for success.

Simon Jordan, speaking on TalkSPORT, highlighted these concerns, questioning The Friedkin Group’s commitment to Everton over their current investment in AS Roma. “Well, they bought the debt, so they’re in the game, and they’re seriously well-funded,” said Jordan. “But then, so was Moshiri, or Usmanov, whoever’s money it was. It’s not about what money you have, but how you deploy it.”

Jordan went on to emphasize the challenges that could come with The Friedkin Group’s multi-club ownership model. “It’ll be interesting to see if they divest themselves of Roma in preference to Everton or continue with this path of multi-club ownership. To me, it brings competitive jeopardy into the equation,” he added.
