Miguel Almirón’s Agent Addresses Newcastle Future Amid Contract Confusion

0

Miguel Almirón’s agent, Daniel Campos, has clarified his client’s situation at Newcastle United, stating that the Paraguayan winger is likely to remain at St James’ Park unless a significant offer materializes.

Speaking to Soy del Millio, Campos addressed Almirón’s current standing at the club, acknowledging his frustrations while emphasizing his commitment to Newcastle. “He has a valid contract, it was renewed last year for three more [years],” Campos explained. “Miguel is not desperate for money or crazy things. If there is an offer from a team, we will go through the appropriate channels.”

Campos indicated that Almirón’s contract runs until mid-2027, although official announcements from Newcastle suggest it is set to expire in 2026. Despite this discrepancy, Campos downplayed any immediate exit plans. “So it seems that he has another two and a half years left on his contract with Newcastle United and that, unless some other club makes a significant offer, with corresponding wages, he will stay on Tyneside for a while yet,” he added.

Almirón, who played a pivotal role in Newcastle’s recent rise, has seen his influence wane this season, leading to frustration over his reduced minutes. Campos had previously admitted his client was “not happy” but reaffirmed Almirón’s determination to compete for his place in Eddie Howe’s squad.

Despite his dedication, Newcastle appear poised to evolve beyond the 29-year-old. Reports suggest the Magpies are eyeing a new right winger to bolster their attack, particularly given their challenges with Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR). Club insiders have highlighted the importance of selling players to balance finances, with Almirón among the likely candidates for departure in 2025.
