Alexander Isak has reaffirmed his commitment to Newcastle United, dismissing speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal. The Swedish forward, who has become a vital part of Eddie Howe’s squad, addressed ongoing transfer rumors during the international break, asserting his focus remains firmly on Newcastle’s season and ambitions.
Last month, Mail Sport reported that Newcastle had not entered contract negotiations with Isak, despite three years remaining on his current deal. Preliminary talks for an extension had taken place at the end of last season, only to be paused, reportedly due to hesitation from Isak and his representatives over committing long-term. With the forward’s aspirations to play in the Champions League, Arsenal has emerged as a potential destination should Newcastle fail to qualify for Europe’s elite competition.
However, Isak has made it clear that he is fully dedicated to his current club. “Throughout my career, I have never talked about or really commented on the move rumours during the season,” Isak told Fotbol Skanalen. “There have been many such years where it has been talked about. It doesn’t affect me.”
Isak emphasized his contentment with his situation at Newcastle, stating, “I am commenting on my situation in Newcastle, and I have never had any problem there. I am fully focused on my task there and that we will have a fantastic season.”
Despite the reported interest from Arsenal, Isak insists his sole objective is success with the Magpies. “There are still great opportunities for that. I have no thoughts about anything else,” he concluded.
