Everton fans continue to wait for confirmation of the club’s takeover by Dan Friedkin, despite the deal being agreed with Farhad Moshiri in September. While the process has taken longer than expected, the recent upturn in the Toffees’ form has helped to alleviate some of the pressure.
Football journalist Alan Myers has provided insights into the timeline for the takeover, suggesting that nothing is guaranteed yet. However, even before the deal is finalized, the Friedkin Group is facing scrutiny from a well-known figure in both English and Italian football.
In comments reported by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Claudio Ranieri expressed his disappointment with the Friedkin Group’s handling of his former club, AS Roma. The legendary manager, who won the Premier League with Leicester City, criticized their decision to sack Paulo Fonseca after just four matches despite extending his contract earlier in the year.
“Roma seem to have a cold soul without personality,” Ranieri stated. “I didn’t understand what they did with De Rossi. When you confirm him with a three-year contract, you tell the world you are building a new team.”
Ranieri went on to highlight the lack of a strong leadership figure within the club. “Roma is a unique place; the fans must be helped and supported, but there seems to be coldness now,” he added.
As Everton fans eagerly await the completion of the takeover, the Friedkin Group’s actions at Roma are raising questions about their approach to club management.
