Max Kilman has expressed disappointment over the team’s failure to meet their potential, despite possessing a squad capable of competing with the league’s top teams.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Kilman highlighted a troubling trend, stating, “It wasn’t good enough. There was a spell in the second half when we let the game slip. It was a bad spell for us.” He added that the team lost concentration at crucial moments, which allowed opponents to gain the upper hand. “Obviously, it’s not good enough for the level we are and the quality we have. We need to be doing much better,” he emphasized.
And worryingly Kilman doesn’t sound overly convinced West Ham are about to properly turn a corner under the manager anytime soon, saying ‘hopefully things will change’.
“It wasn’t good enough,” Kilman told West Ham’s website.
“There was a spell in the second half when we let the game slip. It was a bad spell for us.
“We lost concentration as a team at important moments and let them get ahead of us. Obviously it’s not good enough for the level we are and the quality we have. We need to be doing much better.
“We need to compete with the best teams in the league and we have the quality to do that.
“We need to keep going and hopefully things will change.”
Kilman’s cautious optimism—“hopefully things will change”—leaves supporters concerned about the club’s trajectory under Lopetegui. With the season well underway, questions linger over whether West Ham can turn their fortunes around in what many see as a pivotal moment for the team. Concerning times lie ahead in East London as the pressure mounts to deliver results.
