Alexander Isak Linked with Newcastle United Exit Amid Financial Uncertainty

0

Newcastle United’s financial struggles could lead to the sale of star striker Alexander Isak in 2025, according to multiple reports.

As the club continues to grapple with compliance issues concerning the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, it is increasingly believed that a high-profile departure may be necessary next year. Alexander Isak, who has been a key figure in Newcastle’s attacking lineup since his arrival in 2022, is among the players speculated to be at risk.

Despite the club’s desire to offer Isak a new contract, the 24-year-old has yet to put pen to paper on an extension at St James’ Park. Sources close to the situation suggest that Isak is open to a new deal, but only if it includes a release clause, which would allow him to leave the club without negotiations. This demand has complicated talks, with Newcastle reportedly pushing discussions until the summer.

In the meantime, Isak’s current contract, which sees him earn £120,000 per week, remains in place, but the Swedish international is keen for a more lucrative offer to reflect his growing importance to the squad. “He’s been a key player for Newcastle, and understandably, he wants his salary to match that status,” said a source close to the player.

However, Newcastle have made it clear they will not rush into a decision, instead challenging Isak to prove his worth as the club’s top earner. “The ball is in his court now,” a club insider told us. “If Isak wants the top wage, he’ll have to show he can deliver at that level consistently.”

Meanwhile, journalist Dean Jones has weighed in on the situation, suggesting that Isak could soon be “gettable” for other Premier League clubs. Speaking on the Ranks FC podcast, Jones explained: “I think Alexander Isak, this is the time to go for him. He should not be gettable, he shouldn’t be, but I’m told he is.”

Jones continued, indicating that the uncertainty surrounding the club’s finances could make their top players vulnerable. “Newcastle are just not settled right now. There is a vulnerability about that squad whereby a few of their top players might be gettable when they shouldn’t be, and this guy [Isak] is one of them.”

The journalist also highlighted the disparity in wages between Isak and other top stars. “He should have signed a new contract by now. Isak earns somewhere around £100,000 per week, while players like Marcus Rashford are making three times that. I would trust Isak in this Arsenal system way more. He’s been on their radar before.”
