Former Leeds United winger Aaron Lennon has hailed 16-year-old Harry Gray as one of the club’s most promising prospects, describing him as “frightening” and “ridiculous.” Speaking on talkSPORT, Lennon, who played for Leeds from 2001 to 2005, expressed his admiration for the young starlet, who has yet to make his senior debut for the club.
“I was working back at Leeds last season and he is ridiculous. He is frightening,” Lennon said. “He plays in the 10 or nine. I don’t want to talk him up too much because I think everyone will want him as he’s that good. He’s probably the best I’ve seen in years.”
Gray made his non-competitive senior debut earlier this summer in a pre-season friendly against Harrogate Town and was included in the squad for a training camp in Germany. However, his progress was halted due to a serious injury, forcing him to return to the UK. The talented midfielder recently shared an update on social media, indicating that he is likely to be sidelined until 2025.
As Gray continues his recovery, Lennon’s comments suggest that he has a bright future ahead, should he return to full fitness. With top clubs reportedly eyeing the young talent, Leeds fans will be hoping to see him back on the pitch soon.
