Paqueta’s Family Hints at Future Amid Interest from Man City and Newcastle

0

West Ham star Lucas Paqueta’s future remains uncertain, with both Manchester City and Newcastle United reportedly eyeing a move for the Brazilian midfielder. However, his family may have just provided a significant clue about where his heart lies.

Previously, Paqueta’s camp had described a move to Manchester City as a “dream” before it fell through. This sentiment was reiterated recently by his legal team during the hearing regarding his spot-fixing charges, which were ultimately dismissed as unproven. Since being cleared, Paqueta has expressed gratitude towards his family for their support during one of the most challenging times in his career.

Now, Paqueta’s family appears to have given Newcastle and Man City a strong hint about his future. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Fournier posted a series of videos and pictures of herself and the children decked out in West Ham strips as they talked with Paqueta in the tunnel pre-match.

She captioned one of them ‘Come On You Irons’.

The kids put their hands on the Hammers badge and then walked out with their dad as mascots.

West Ham fans absolutely loved the fact Paqueta’s wife was rocking a retro West Ham shirt made famous by Paolo Di Canio.

A journalist revealed earlier this week that Manchester City are not “done yet” with their pursuit of the West Ham star, even suggesting they may offer Jack Grealish to reduce the fee West Ham would accept for Paqueta.

Newcastle have also returned to the picture, reportedly planning an offer to West Ham for Paqueta as they look to lift the mood around the club after missing out on several transfer targets this summer. Both clubs offer Champions League football, with Newcastle also presenting the added appeal of Paqueta’s close friend, Bruno Guimaraes, who could help sway the decision.

However, Paqueta’s wife, Duda Fournier, and their young children may have tipped the balance. On Instagram, Fournier shared pictures and videos of herself and the kids wearing West Ham strips, showing their affection for the club. In one video, the children are seen touching the Hammers badge and walking out with their father as mascots, with Fournier captioning the post “Come On You Irons.”

The gesture has sparked joy among West Ham supporters, with many delighted to see Fournier sporting a retro West Ham shirt famously worn by Paolo Di Canio.

Should Manchester City or Newcastle submit a bid that meets West Ham’s asking price, the decision will ultimately rest with Paqueta. However, his family’s clear show of affection for the club suggests that a move away may not be as imminent as some might have hoped.
