Former West Ham manager Graham Potter is reported to have endured a difficult relationship with striker Niclas Fullkrug during his short spell in charge of the club.
Speaking on The Athletic FC podcast, reporters Roshane Thomas and Benji Lanyado suggested that Potter clashed with a number of players, with Fullkrug among those with whom tensions surfaced.
“Potter wasn’t best pleased with Fullkrug in terms of his personality – the almost arrogance he possessed,” Thomas said. “And he wasn’t best pleased with his comments after the draw against Southampton. Words which I won’t repeat on this podcast.”
West Ham conceded a stoppage-time equaliser in that fixture, a moment which added to frustrations as Fullkrug had been substituted earlier in the match.
The Germany international has also struggled to deliver in east London since his £27m move from Borussia Dortmund in 2024. Fullkrug has managed only three goals and two assists in 27 appearances for the Hammers across all competitions.
Now 32, he has yet to score in the current campaign, with West Ham needing him to rediscover his form quickly as they battle against relegation.
