Marco Silva Pays Tribute to Everton and Goodison Park Ahead of Farewell Visit

Fulham manager Marco Silva has expressed his admiration for Everton as he prepares to make a final visit to Goodison Park this weekend. Silva, who managed the Toffees for 18 months from 2018 to 2019, led them to an eighth-place Premier League finish — a position the club has yet to replicate. Speaking ahead of Fulham’s clash with Everton, Silva shared his lasting affection for Goodison Park, which the Merseyside club will soon vacate after 133 years to move to their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium next season.

“It was an honour to manage a club like Everton,” Silva told reporters. “I’m not the first or last, for sure, to say that because when you are there, you can feel how it’s a big club, how they have a massive fan base.”

Silva praised the historic nature of Goodison Park, noting its unique atmosphere. “It’s a historic, old-school stadium, and there’s something special around the place. You can feel it,” he said. “As a home manager, you can feel it more because it’s week-in, week-out. Even when you go there playing away, you can feel it as well. It’s a special place to play.”

Despite his fond memories, Silva’s focus remains on ending Fulham’s recent two-game losing streak after defeats to Manchester City and Aston Villa. “Now I am a manager in different colours,” he stated. “We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we have to explore what we want to explore and be aware of where they are strong. We are capable of getting the three points, and, of course, that’s what we want.”
