Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur revealed a hilarious message he received from Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff after Ferrari’s dominant win at the United States Grand Prix.
Vasseur was speaking to the F1 Nation Podcast about the race when Wolff interrupted him. The two team principals have a long-standing friendship and often share lighthearted moments.
“He’s so good,” Wolff said, referring to Vasseur. “I said, ‘I’m inspired by Fred and the Ferrari team and his performances. I really am.'”
Vasseur responded with a laugh, “He told me for once you don’t look like an idiot or something like this in the WhatsApp [chat], no?”
Wolff corrected him, adding, “I said you still look idiotic, but you’re not idiotic!”
The Mercedes team principal went on to praise Vasseur’s leadership and Ferrari’s resurgence. “It’s so good how you recovered from before the summer to being right dominant now,” Wolff said. “We’re looking at it with admiration.”
When asked if he would give Vasseur a kiss, Wolff jokingly replied, “I don’t want to give you a kiss then they would know!”
